The party’s spokesperson said that despite the fact that the PTI is the largest political party in Pakistan, it was not included in the consultation process for the nomination of the interim prime minister as per the Constitution.

However, the PTI spokesperson expressed hope that the Kakar will ensure free and fair elections in the stipulated timeframe of 90 days in the country.

He also urged for the provision of a just political environment where all political parties could run their election campaign.

The PTI is facing censorship while the party chairman is behind bars, he said while urging the caretaker prime minister to take notice of such conditions to ensure fair elections in the country.

PTI’s Usman Dar called it a good omen to appoint the caretaker prime minister from a small province.

“We hope that Anwarul Haq Kakar will fulfil his new responsibility in an impartial manner and ensure elections in 90 days. The first test for him will be the election of an impartial caretaker cabinet,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Vice Chairman of PTI Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that PTI and the people of Pakistan have high hopes from Kakar that he will hold the elections on time.

He expressed hope that the caretaker prime minister will not be biased towards anyone and will order the release of the captive PTI workers.

On the other hand, PPP seemed oblivious to the nomination of Kakar as the caretaker prime minister as Khusheed Shah denied having knowledge regarding the Senator’s name being finalised.

“We did not know that Kakar’s name will come up. It would have been better if we chose another candidate,” he added.

PPP forwarded five names including that of Salim Abbas, Jalil Abbas, Muhammad Malik and Afzal Khan from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shah stated.

However, he later refuted the reports which said that Shah disapproved of the appointment of the caretaker prime minister, saying that the nomination of Kakar was finalised after consultations among the parties.
