Wink-wink: Bilawal’s curious slip of tongue about Nawaz Sharif

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari addressed a lengthy press conference on Wednesday, taking time to enunciate the challenges he had faced and how he dealt with them.

But somewhere in the middle, his tongue slipped in a rather curious way.

Bilawal was in the middle of explaining that he achieved whatever he did under the leadership of the current prime minister. Except, in place of Shehbaz Sharif he said Nawaz Sharif.

As muffled laughter broke out in the room, Bilawal not only corrected himself by saying “Shehbaz Sharif” but also paused his next sentence allowing the room to express its amusement.

However, to wrap up the slip of tongue, and to perhaps appear that he was now incharge of his words and expressions, Bilawal winked to someone off camera before resuming his speech.

PM Shehbaz’s government has often been linked to his brother in exile. Even the next election is rife with speculation of when the elder Sharif will make his comeback. Still, Bilawal’s slip of tongue was probably just a slip of tongue.
