Indian Punjab CM claims drones involved in smuggling with Pakistan

Indian Punjab’s Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has claimed that aerial drones are conducting smuggling operations across the border from Pakistan.

Mann said that there had been ‘several’ incidents where a drone has flown off from an Indian border district into Pakistan and returned with ‘consignments’. He also added that that the smuggling involved both drugs and weapons.

““There are many drones which go from here and return with consignments,” Mann said on Sunday.

He also called for registering drones capable of delivery as the ony way to stop these smuggling operations was to register drones like vehicles. He also said that he has asked the central government to make registration of drones compulsory.

        class="nk-iframe" onload="setInterval(()=>{try{this.style.height=this.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight+'px';}catch{}}, 100)"

He also said that in some incidents, the Border Security Force had managed to capture drones but there was no way to ascertain who owned or operated them.

Mann said that if the drones had been registered, the culprits would have been tracked down easily.

Earlier in July, a drone crashed in Lahore was found to be carrying a large amount of drugs, presumably as a delivery.
