Quds Al-Samarrai is of Iraqi origin but has studied journalism courses in Denmark and Sweden. A video showing her trying to snatch away the Holy Quran as two men tried to desecrate it had recently gone viral.

She repeatedly shouted “Al Quran” in the video as she scuffled with the men.

After initial speculation that she was Swedish or Danish, it had been revealed that she along with both men descerating the Quran were actually of Iraqi origin.

While some celebrated her as a hero for preventing the Islamophobic act, she soon faced very different allegations.

A document circulating online claimed that she was being paid 6000 from the Saudi Embassy which helped her day-to-day living.

She is also facing a lawsuit regarding theft and could face a conviction from a Danish court.

The document was later called out to be fake on the basis of difference in font and signatures.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate has thrown its weight behind her. The syndicate has decided to issue her an press card
