“During the meeting matters of mutual interest, regional security situation and defence cooperation were discussed,” a statement from the Inter Service Public Relations said.

“Both reiterated the desire to further enhance bilateral relations in all fields,” it added.

General Kurilla ‘acknowledged and appreciated’ the army’s successes in the fight against terrorism and Pakistan’s efforts for establishing peace and stability in the region, the statement said.

General Kurilla is one of the highest-ranking officials to visit Pakistan in recent days. This is his second visit to the country in seven months.

He held meetings with Gen Asim Munir and others in December 2022.
