Barbie was not banned in Punjab, however, the film was sent for review due to the content, interim information minister Amir Mir clarified on Saturday.

“Next week, the censor board will make a committee which will review it,” he told BBC Urdu. Meanwhile, the film was presented in different cities including Lahore and Sargodha.

Media reported on Friday that the provincial board delayed the film’s release in Punjab over “objectionable content”.

When asked if the same movie was being released in other provinces, he said that if other provinces don’t mind playing objectionable content, they can release it, but Punjab won’t release it.

“Search on Google,” Mir replied when asked about the objectionable content.
