Elahi was moved amid heavy security after show-cause proceedings regarding his release were wrapped up.

An anti-corruption court in Lahore had issued show cause notice to Punjab jail officials for failing to release him after orders were issued.

The proceedings on Wednesday were attended by the DIG jails as well as the superintendent of the Camp Jail where Elahi has been incarcerated.

When the judge asked why release orders had not been carried out, the DIG replied that he would initiate an inquiry into the matter.

The judge remarked that he should proceed with the inquiry and that the notice had only been issued to call the authorties’ attention towards the matter.

Elahi has been jailed under MPO for 30 days already.
