      <title>‘Missing’ custom officials arrested for corruption</title>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The Federal Investigation Agency arrested two customs officials who had from Jinnah International Airport on Monday under charges of corruption.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The two officials, Tariq Mahmood and Yawar Abbas, had been missing for almost a week and were arrested as they tried to travel to Islamabad. They were arrested from the departure lounge.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The FIA recovered Rs5.4 million, USD 2,500 and AED 6,100 from the two officer as well.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The agency said that both had been arrested in a mega corruption scandal numbered 19.23, although details of the particular case have not been revealed.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The two officers have been accused of taking tens of millions of rupees in bribes for allowing smuggling through Pakistan’s borders.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;FIA sources also said Rs40 to 60 million in bribes are received daily at customs checkposts acorss the country and multiple officers from customs are involved in the operation.&lt;/p&gt;
