Here is how to sign up

You will need an instagram account

The app is called Threads by Instagram, so you will need an Instagram account to sign up. Whether independent sign-up options will become available later is not yet clear.

So, on your instagram account, go to the search bar and type ‘Threads’.

The red icon that will appear is a ticket for you to create an account.

Your ticket will lead you to Threads

Your ticket will now show you your username as well as a QR code. At the bottom of the screen it will show you a button that says ‘Get Threads’.

Another way to join

If you do not see the the ticket in the search bar, you simply click the menu icon on your Instagram home screen and you will see Threads as an option next to ‘Settings and Privacy’. It will also have a ‘New’ button next to it.

How to get the app

The Threads app is already available on iOS App Store an Android Play Store. You can search for the app by typing ‘Threads, an Instagram App’.

Tip: make sure you type the full name because an app called Threads already exists.
