Khalid, who belongs to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, was disqualified in a fake degree case.

With his disqualification, the PTI government in GB stands dissolved as well. Khursheed had been in office since December 2020 and had been a close aide of Imran Khan. He had been expecially visible around Imran Khan after the governments in Punjab and KP were dissolved.

The PTI, which was in government in the center, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan is now completely removed from power across the country.

The case in which Khursheed was disqualified by the court was filed by Ghulam Shahzad Agha, a member of the assembly belonging to the Pakistan People’s Party. Agha had argued that Khursheed’s law degree was fake and he should be disqualified under Article 62 and 63. The final verdict of disqualification was announced by a three-member bench.

Khursheed claimed to have received a law degree from London but it could not be verified.

Although it was the court that disqualified him, Khursheed was facing a challenge on multiple fronts. A case against his degree had been filed against him the Election Commission of Pakistan and a no-confidence motion against him had also been submitted in the assembly.
