      <title>Govt bumps SC judges’ salary through presidential order</title>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Acting President Sadiq Sanjrani issued an order on Tuesday morning increasing the salaries of judges of the Supreme Court, including the chief justice of Pakistan.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The basic salary of the chief justice of Pakistan has been increased by almost 20% to Rs1,229,189.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The basic salary of regular judges has also been increased by 20% to Rs1,161,163.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;According to details recently submitted in the Public Accounts Committee, the chief justice of Pakistan was drawing a gross salary of Rs1,527,399 per month before the increase. The details in the PAC had also revealed that each judge in the country’s top court was drawing a salary of Rs1,470,711 before the latest increase.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The order also adds that the new salaries shall deemed to have taken effect from July 1.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The order was issued by Sadiq Sanjrani as acting president since President Arif Alvi is out of the country for Hajj.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;“The salary of judges of the Supreme Court Order, 2020 is hereby repealed,” the presidential order reads.&lt;/p&gt;
