Imran asks Justice Aamer Farooq to recuse himself from Toshakhana case

PTI Chairman Imran Khan has asked Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamer Farooq to recuse himself from hearing the Toshakhana case.

In a request filed on Monday through Barrister Gohar, Imran has argued that it would be in the ineterest of impartiality if Justice Farooq does not hear the case. Cases regarding the court’s May 5 order in the Toshakhana are still pending.

Imran has argued that two judges had issued a decision in his favour in the Tyrian White Case but Justice Farooq had it removed through a press release. The petitions says this reflects ‘adversely’ on Justice Farooq’s impartiality.

The PTI chairman added that he was being forcibly implicated in cases such as Toshakhana and Tyrian White. He added that the cases needed to be dealt properly as they could affect his whole political career.

Imran has also argued that he had repeatedly requested to appear before the court via videolink but the matter has not been decided despite its ‘urgency’.

He has also argued that despite regular appearances, the requirement to get biometric verification was not waived off which affected his ‘right of access to justice’.
