A man whose son was involved in the violent protests of May 9 has issued a video condemning the incident and expressing anguish over his son’s involvement.

The man identifies himself as Muhammad Sabir in the video and says his whole family condemns to the ‘tragedy’ that occurred on May 9.

He then adds that his son, Umar Farooq, was a student of BA and had been taken by ‘Imran Khan and his party supporters’ to the protest.

Sabir also said that Imran Khan’s own sons were enjoying a life of freedom abroad but his son had been beguiled into joining a protest against the institutions of Pakistan

    <iframe
        class="nk-iframe" onload="setInterval(()=>{try{this.style.height=this.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight+'px';}catch{}}, 100)"

“Pakistan army is our red line and our pride,” he adds in the video.

Protests had sprung out across Pakistan after Imran Khan was arrested from the Islamabad High Court on May 9. they had turned violent in many places, including in Lahore where the residence of the corps commander was attacked, ransacked and burned.

A crackdown has since ensued, prompting dozens of party leaders to quit the party. PTI has claimed that almost 10,000 of its workers have been arrested and are languishing in jails.
