The first of these operations took place in Manzai, Tank District.

“Own troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location. Resultantly, 3x terrorists were sent to hell. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists,” the statement said.

The other encounter, described as ‘fierce’ by the ISPR statemetn, took place in Razmak, North Waziristan District, resulted in the deaths of three more terrorists.

“The killed terrorists remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces as well as killing of innocent citizens,” the statement said.

“Sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area,” ISPR said.

Intelligence based operations and other encounters by security forces against terrorists have been stepped up as the new year began with a series of terror attacks including a bombing in Peshawar’s police lines area that killed almost 100 policemen.
