Sindh says it collected record-breaking revenue in last year

With the fiscal year 2022-23 coming to a close, Sindh Revenue Board announced that it had collected record-breaking revenue over the past 12 months.

In a statement issued on Friday, the board said that it had collected Rs24 billion in June 2023 alone. This is the most tax collected by the board in a single month in the last 13 years.

This took the total revenue collected in the fiscal year to Rs185.3 billion, which passed the record set in the last budget by Rs5.3 billion.

The tax collected is an increase of 21% over last year’s total tax collection of Rs153.5 billion, the statement said. The SBR also said that it was the second consecutive year that the target revenue had been exceeded.

“It is noteworthy that SRB showcased an impressive performance despite the factors like continuing adverse effect of devastating floods in Sindh, economic slowdown and no new taxes due to Sindh tax-free budgets,” the statement said.
