Mukamil Shah, aka Sarbakaf Mohmand, was killed under mysterious circumstances with signs pointing to a internal power struggle within the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was the the TTP’s commander for Zhob.

Sarbakaf belonged to the Jamat-ul-Ahrar which had recently merged with the TTP. However, reports said that the differences over dividing area of operations led to a continuous tension between the two groups.

Social media had recently been filled with rumours of Sarbakaf’s poisoning. He was allegedly poisoned by Noor Wali Mehsud’s faction, with whom Sarbakaf was known to be in a power struggle with.

Sarbakaf was involved in multiple terrorist activites, most notably the attack on the mosque in Peshawar’s police line area in January this year, which left over 80 policemen dead. He was also involved in the attack in I-10 Islamabad, and the attack on Frontier Constabulary Headquarters. He was also involved in extortion and abductions.

The militant was also running an outlet called ‘Ghazi media’ which was engaged in propaganda against Pakistan.

The killing of Sarbakaf is the latest in a series of highly-wanted terrorists ending up dead due to infighting among militants.
