In response to the recent May 9 protest carried out by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers and supporters, the Sindh police have made the decision to establish a specialized force aimed at curbing such incidents.

The protest had taken place following the arrest of PTI party chief Imran Khan on May 9.

According to the Sindh Inspector General of Police (IG), this newly formed force, known as the Anti-Riots Force, will operate in accordance with international guidelines for crowd management.

The primary objective of this force is to effectively handle and control situations of unrest and disturbance.

The Anti-Riots Force will consist of 3,000 personnel, with a deployment plan of 2,000 personnel in Karachi and 500 personnel each in Sukkur and Hyderabad.

These highly trained individuals will be equipped with the necessary skills and tools to manage crowds and handle potential riots.

The command structure of the force will be led by grade 19 SSPs (Senior Superintendents of Police), ensuring a strong and capable leadership at the helm.

Additionally, the personnel will receive training from international trainers to further enhance their expertise in maintaining peace during challenging circumstances.
