‘Like-minded’ PTI dissidents to stay away from Tareen

A group of politicial leaders who resigned from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have decided to stick together without merging with any other political party.

Led by former Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas and former PTI leader Hashim Dogar, the group of like-minded politicians have decided to call themselves the ‘Democrat Group’.

However, the group will not be registered as a political entity with the Election Commission of Pakistan and the identity of people in the group will also not be publicly revealed.

The group has reportedly decided that they will not merge with the new political party reportedly being set up under Jahangir Tareen, which has already attrated some former PTI names.

The group has also decided against merging into the Pakistan People’s Party, the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

    <iframe
        class="nk-iframe" onload="setInterval(()=>{try{this.style.height=this.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight+'px';}catch{}}, 100)"
        width="100%" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" style="height:400px;position:relative"
        src="https://www.aajenglish.tv/news/card/30323497"
        sandbox="allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-popups allow-modals allow-forms">

PTI leaders have been resigning rapidly since a nationwide crackdown began against the party after the incidents of May 9. Many political leaders have not just resigned from the party but have announced that they would leave politics altogether.

In the meantime, talk of a new party has been circulating with other political parties also looking to share the spoils.
