As the president and First Lady Emine Erdogan mingled with guests in the ceremony, Shehbaz conveyed his congratualtions on winning the elections and then mentioned the gift he had brought.

“I have brought mangoes,” he said, speaking through an interpretor, while gesturing with his hand.

In reply, Erdogan animatedly asked where the gift was. He then added that “the mangoes from Pakistan are delicious”.

PM Shehbaz then clarified that half of the gift was for ‘his sister’ gesturing towards the first lady who thanked him with a laugh.

The prime minister is on a three-day tour to Turkiye where he participated in Erdogan’s commencement ceremony. Erdogan recently became president of the country for a third time after narrowly defeating Kemal Kilicdaroglu by winning 52% of the vote.
