He made these comments during his visit to the Radio Pakistan building, which was attacked by PTI supporters on May 9 after Imran Khan’s arrest in the Al-Qadir trust case.

“The enemy cannot look at Pakistan with a dirty eye till the Day of Judgment,” he said.

He was accompanied by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Ghulam Ali, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, and Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal.

He said that on August 14, 1974, the independence of the country was announced by Radio Pakistan.

“May 9 and 10 shocking incidents cause great shock to the people and a strong wave of anger spread all over Pakistan,” he said.

“What sort of patriotism is this burning the historical and national heritage?”

“The memorial of Chaghi was turned into a pile of ashes, it was a masterpiece of our defense force,” he said.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that he appreciate the courage of the employees of Radio Pakistan, and announce the immediate payment of their wages.

“On my way to Peshawar I had been informed that the employees had not received the wages for April and May… they would be paid within the next 48 hours,” he said.

Shahbaz Sharif further said that there is no difference between the miscreants and terrorists of May 9, the miscreants will definitely be punished according to the law and the constitution.

He lamented the way in which the historic structure was burned down during the May 9 protests.

“Nations protect their identity with their lives so that the coming generations can benefit from it…but here the archives were burned down,” he said while addressing the participants.

During the visit, he was briefed about the losses in the Radio Pakistan building.

According to sources, the Prime Minister will also visit the Garrison Recreation Center, where the Martyrs’ Day celebration has been organized.

Moreover, he is also expected to visit the Governor House, where he will be briefed on the law and order situation.

The Prime Minister is likely to meet Ulema and provincial leaders at the Governor’s House.
