Rising temperature causes Swat River to flood Bahrain Bazaar

As temperatures rose and snow began to melt in the upper areas, the Swat River experienced a surge in water levels on Tuesday, resulting in the flooding of hotels and shops in Bahrain Bazaar.

No damage to life was reported.

The rising waters caused the blockage of the Kalam road, leaving many tourists and residents stranded.

The increased water flow also led to the isolation of several areas, including Kalam, Mankiyal, Pishmal, Utror, Gabral, Matiltan, and numerous other regions within Swat district.

Several families found themselves marooned due to the road closures while attempting to return to Kalam, Utror, Gabral, Matiltan, and other areas from lower parts of the region where they had traveled during the winter season.

The affected communities, particularly those residing in Kalam and Bahrain areas, criticized both the federal and provincial governments for their failure to construct adequate roads in the region following the devastating floods experienced last year.

It is the second time Swat River has flooded in a month. In April, the River Swat swelled following rain spell.
