IHC extends Imran Khan’s interim bail in two cases

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has extended the interim bail of former prime minister Imran Khan till June 8 in two cases.

IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard the petitions of the PTI Chairman seeking an extension of interim bail.

Imran Khan’s lawyer applied for an exemption from appearance today (Tuesday), which was accepted by the court.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq remarked that on which day Imran Khan has to come in other cases? Let’s keep that date.

The court extended the interim bail of Imran Khan in a case of an attempt to murder filed by PML-N leader Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha. In both cases, the interim bail of the PTI chairman was extended till June 8.

Contempt of court proceedings

Moreover, the IHC Chief Justice also heard the contempt of court case against Imran Khan’s arrest.

During the hearing, IG Islamabad and DC Islamabad appeared in court.

The Advocate General argued that the Supreme Court also passed an order in which the petition was disposed of. The detailed decision of the top court is awaited.

Moreover, the Chief Justice also inquired whether an FIR was registered in the incident.

“Vandalism has taken place, people have also been injured, if there is a delay in registering a case, then things get spoiled, the request from our office has gone,” IHC Chief Justice said in his remarks.

He asked: “Which police station controls this area? Will the High Court also have to bring 22A? Should I ask the registrar to apply to the court for registration of the case?”

The Advocate General requested that the contempt of court notice should be discharged to the extent of the Home Secretary. He was not even present here on that day.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq said that let the Supreme Court’s order come, the registrar’s report has not even come yet.

After the arguments, the IHC also adjourned the hearing of the contempt of court case till the last week of May.
