The meeting, chaired by Imran Khan in Lahore, also decided condemned the ‘abduction’ of the PTI chairman from high court premises on Tuesday.

A statement issued after the meeting also said the party rejected ‘propaganda’ that put the blame of the events of May 9 on the party leadership.

Protests had broken out across Pakistan over Imran Khan’s arrest with some protests leading to mobs vandalising multiple buildings including the corp commander’s residence in Lahore and the Radio Pakistan building in Peshawar.

A statement by the ISPR had referref to the events of May 9 as a ‘black day’ and said that the PTI had done something ‘not even achieved by the enemies of Pakistan’.

However, the statement from Sunday’s meeting said that the PTI had always believed in peaceful protests in the 27 years of its existence.

“Even in the most difficult sitautions, Imran Khan did not violate the law,” the statement said.

The party called for an investigation into the killings of PTI protestors across Pakistan and said they were an attempt to incite crowds to violence.

The meeting’s statement also said that cases against the killings will be filed against the interior minister, and the caretaker chief ministers and inspector generals of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The part also condemned the Pakistan Democratic Movement sit-in led by Maulana Fazal ur Rehman as an ‘invasion of Madrassa students’.

Maulana had announced that PDM workers from all over Paksitan would march on Islamabad for a sit-in infront of Supreme Court over its ‘protection’ of Imran Khan. This came after the top court declared Imran’s arrest from high court premises to be illegal.

PTI said that the sit-in was an attempt to interfere with the cout as it tried to perform its constitutional duty and said any such attempts would be countered with public show of strength.
