Judges’ houses could be next to burn, Marriyum Aurangzeb tells SC

Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Thursthat if relief was granted to Imran Khan, judges’ house could be next to burn.

“I’m predicting, go ahead and rule against this (arrest of Imran Khan), no one’s house will be safe,” Aurangzeb said in an aggressive press conference, right after the Supreme Court ordered that Imran Khan should be presented in court within an hour.

She said that if the chief justice was concerned about the honour of the court being violated, he should have acted when court’s orders to arest Imran Khan were being violated.

“When courts become sanctuaries of criminals, they will be arrested from the court.” she said.

    <iframe
        class="nk-iframe" onload="setInterval(()=>{try{this.style.height=this.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight+'px';}catch{}}, 100)"
        width="100%" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" style="height:400px;position:relative"

She told the chief justice that if Imran Khan was given the ‘fastest relief’ then the whole country would get caught up in the chaos that would follow.

“Giving relief to this enmity against Pakistan is akin to encouraging terrorism,” she said. She added that those who encouraged terrorism would also be considered culprits.

Aurangzeb said that it was the first time in history that a person remanded to NAB was getting his appeal heard in the first 48 hours.

She said that military installations had been attacked by PTI’s mobs. “Who will get justice for those guarding our frontiers?” she asked.

Her remarks also reached the court as it resumed hearing. The chief justice remarked that he had been ‘threatened’ about his house being burnt. The court then termed Imran’s arrest to be illegal.
