Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired the meeting which was held to mark one year of government by PDM and its allies.

The meeting discussed the current matter of confrontation between parliament and Supreme Court and participants assured the government of their full support on the matter.

The government’s legal team also briefed the meeting about the progress of the election delay case in the court, where the government got a bill passed in parliament to prevent election funding from being released.

However, the meeting was divided over whether Imran Khan and his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf should be engaged in dialogue to break the political deadlock currently persisiting in the country.

The main push for dialogue came from Bilwal Bhutto Zardari and was echoed by the Muttahid Qaumi Movement and Balochistan National Party.

However, representatives from the Jamiat-e-Ulema (F) opposed the dialogue option, saying that Imran Khan is not a legitimate enough political force to be engaged with.

Bilawal however, replied that closing the door of negotiations was not the democratic way of doing things.
