      <title>Govt increases petroleum levy on diesel</title>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The government on Saturday increased the petroleum development levy on diesel by Rs5 per litre to meet IMF demands.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The PDL on high-speed diesel (HSD) rose from Rs45 to about Rs50 per litre when the government announced petroleum prices for the next fortnight Friday night.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The IMF has been urging the government to increase PDL by Rs50 per litre on all petroleum products, sources said.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;At present, the PDL already stands at Rs50 per litre, according to an Ogra documents.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;On Friday, the government also levied Rs2 on Kerosene oil.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;However, PDL on light diesel (LDO) has been slashed by Rs.08 to Rs13.78 per litre.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The government has decided prices of petrol and diesel will remain unchanged for the next 15 days.&lt;/p&gt;
