Police said that he is currently in the custody for interrogation. He was detailed on CCTV and technical grounds.

Earlier, Dr Birbal Genani’s bother raised suspicion about the injured female assistant for being involved in the killing of the eye specialist.

Quratulain was travelling with Genani when he was shot near the Layari expressway interchange in Garden area of Karachi.

A case of the target killing against the murder of an eye specialist was registered in Garden police station with charges of murder, attempt to murder, and other offences.

The brother of the deceased doctor, who filed the complaint, has raised suspicions about the injured female assistant.

The complainant got the news of his brother’s death over a phone call and he was rushed to Jinnah hospital.

According to him, Dr Birbal was shot twice in the head while a bullet also went through the bonnet of the car.

He added, even though the female assistant got injured in the incident as well, the possibility of her involvement directly or indirectly in this murder cannot be ignored.

Dr. Birbal was also a former health director of KMC. He was murdered on Thursday.
