Did Pakistan violate ICC’s anti-corruption code?

Former captain Rashid Latif has raised serious concerns over Pakistan’s recent series defeat against Afghanistan questioning the team selection.

The Shadab Khan XI is now on the brink of a 3-0 white-wash against the hosts with the third T20I set to be played on March 27 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

“Did we go for the defeat?” Rashid asked during the post-match show. “It is in the ICC’s anti-corruption code that you cannot play a team, who you are sure that they cannot win. This is clearly written in clause 6.1.2.3.”

The 6.1.2.3 – the youth and/or lack of experience of the Participant – falls under the Article 6 section of the anti-corruption code.

He went on to ask that why the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sent such a team. “Some people had already predicted a 3-0 victory for Afghanistan. I don’t know what was the reason behind that, still wondering, why our board rested the top-ranked players?”
