The Central Ruet-Hilal Committee meeting has announced that the Ramazan moon has been sighted in multiple parts of Pakistan and Ramazan will begin on March 23 in the country.

The official announcement said that the moon was sighted in Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalpur among other places.

The central meeting was organised at Auqaf Hall in Peshawar. The change in location from Islamabad to Peshawar is part of a rotation policy between provinces and is also an attempt to to improve the level of consensus over the moon.

Zonal meetings took place simultaneously in multiple other cities of the country.

Lahore’s zonal committee wrapped up its meeting and declared the moon was not sighted. Islamabad’s committee has also declared that the moon has not been sighted.

The Ramazan moon was not sighted in India and Bangladesh.

This story is being updated.
