Noor Jehan’s pain continues as departments shift reponsibility

Noor Jehan, the female elephant at Karachi’s Zoo, continues to suffer in pain as zoo and Safari Park authorities continue to look towards each other for action.

A senior director of the Karachi Zoo recently wrote a letter to authorities at the Safari Park to have Noor Jehan shifted in view of her health.

However, the park’s director flatly refused to have the elephants shifted and instead advised zoo authorities to issue a tender for the elephant’s accomodation.

The Safari Park director refused Aaj News’ request for a comment.

WWF has also recommended that the elephants should be moved out of the zoo. However, Noor Jehan continues to languish without treatment.

Madhubala, Noor Jehan’s female companion, has also been recommended to be moved out of the zoo to no avail.

A recent report had revealed that Noor Jehan was suffering from a bone and joint condition that had partially paralyzed her hind legs.

A Four Paws team performed a surgery on the elephant last year as well.
