      <title>Health ministry raises alarm over medicine shortage</title>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The ministry of national health services has written has called for immediate measures after noting a shortage of medicine in markets.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In a letter written to the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan that a number of medicine, including life-saving ones, are short in the market causing problems for the public.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It has asked for immediate steps to ensure uninterrupted supply of drugs. A total of 131 medicine have been found to be in short supply.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Most of these drugs are produced by multi-national firms who have stopped production over a price dispute.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;DRAP has already recommended a price increase for many of tthe drugs mentioned in the list. However, final approval for the increase in prices has still not been granted.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;A summary for the increase in prices of 119 medicine has already been forwarded to the cabinet on February 7.&lt;/p&gt;
