Ned Price, the State Department spokesman, made the remarks while answering a question about whether Pakistan has asked the US for help in dealing with terrorism threats from Afghanistan.

“The United States and Pakistan have a shared interest in ensuring the Taliban live up to the commitments that they have made, and that terrorist groups that may be active in Afghanistan – like ISIS-K, TTP, al-Qaida, as you mentioned – are no longer able to threaten regional stability,” Ned Price said.

He added that Pakistan’s engagement with the US is based in the fact that terrorism has taken many lives in the region.

He also said that questions about Pakistan’s counterterrorism plans would best be asked of Pakistani authorities.

“But at the end of the day, we do have shared interests,” he added.

The statement comes soon after Pakistan’s defence minister and head of intelligence visted Kabul to talk to the Taliban authorities about stopping groups such as TTP launch attacks on Pakistan from their soil.
