The explosion took place in a washroom of the train’s carriage number four. A railway spokesperson has confirmed that it was a cylinder explosion.

“The cylinder had been placed in the washroom,” the spokesperson said.

The deceased woman has been identified as Nazeeran Bibi, a resident of Sadiqabad.

Police and other investigation agencies reached the site immediately. The injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals.

The train was travelling from Quetta to Peshawar. The explosion took place as soon as it left the Chichawatni station.
