The federal government has decided to keep the prices of all petroleum products unchanged until January 31, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said on Sunday. The rates were supposed to be changed tomorrow (Monday).

“The prices of diesel, petrol, kerosene oil and light diesel oil were supposed to be changed from midnight to January 31 midnight would remain the same,” he said while announcing the decision. “It would not be changed.”

Below are the current rates of petroleum products:

Petrol price: Rs214.80

Diesel: Rs227.80

Kerosene oil: Rs171.23

Light diesel oil: Rs169

“There is no increase or decrease in petroleum products prices.”

Last month, the government announced to maintain the prices of petroleum products at current levels for a fortnight.

The government cut the price of petrol by Rs10 and diesel by Rs7.5 on December 15, 2022.

A spokesman for Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has rejected “speculative reports” circulating in a section of the media about the shortage of petrol and diesel in the country, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported.

“Sufficient stocks of petrol and diesel are available across the country,” OGRA spokesman Imran Ghaznavi said in a statement.

He clarified that useable stocks of petrol and diesel were “good enough for 17 and 32 days respectively, while more cargoes carrying 80,000 MT of petrol-(motor spirit oil ) and 90,000 MT high-speed diesel were at berth/outer anchorage.

He said local refineries were also operational and playing their due role in meeting the demand for petroleum products.
