Pakistan’s authorities have told foreign diplomats in Islamabad that security arrangements in the federal capital are robust and that foreign nationals could move around without fear.

More than 100 diplomats, including ambassadors, attended the briefing at the Foreign Office on Friday, where Islamabad Inspector General of Police and interior and foreign secretaries took them into confidence about security measures in the city, according to officials privy to the development.

The diplomats were told that foreign nationals could freely move around in the city as appropriate security measures were in place.

They were also briefed about the investigation in the last Friday’s bombing in Islamabad.

Reports said that the diplomats expressed satisfaction at the briefing.

Pakistan has seen rising terror attacks in recent months including a bombing in Islamabad on December 23.

Earlier this week, the US and Saudi Arabia mission in Islamabad issued travel alerts for their citizens urging them to avoid unnecessary travel.
