PTI lawmakers to meet NA speaker tomorrow for verification of resignations: Fawad

PTI Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry said on Wednesday that his party’s lawmakers will meet the NA speaker tomorrow for the personal verification of their resignations.

The PTI MNAs had resigned en masse after PTI Chairman Imran Khan was ousted from the prime minister’s office through a no-confidence motion in April and have not returned to the parliament despite the Supreme Court and the government’s requests.

Earlier in the day, the NA spokesperson in a tweet said that “PTI chief whip Malik Amir Dogar and Raja Ashraf had a telephonic conversation”.

“The speaker told him [Amir Dogar] that he and the deputy speaker were present in their offices and were waiting for PTI MNAs,” the spokesperson said and added that the PTI lawmakers will meet the speaker in his chamber at 11:30 tomorrow (Thursday).

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad today[Wednesday], Fawad said that further experiments with the country should be stopped as the nation cannot afford the practice anymore.

“The current cabinet sometimes visits Pakistan. Speaker and MNAs are mostly found abroad,” the former information minister said and added that the coalition government came to power only to get NRO-2.

The PTI leader said that terrorism had shot up by 52% in the past eight months and warned that Pakistan would also face consequences if the situation in neighboring Afghanistan deteriorated.

“There is only one national leader in Pakistan. Without Imran Khan, Pakistan’s politics is barren and there can be no political stability. He is the only leader whose words are heard in all four provinces,” the PTI leader said and added the current economic crisis in the country was because of political instability and early elections was the only solution. “We want good relations with the state institutions.”
