“Any kind of illegal activity will not be tolerated in Islamabad,” the Islamabad police said in a series of tweets, adding that any political activity in the federal capital would be in accordance with the law and with the permission of the Islamabad administration.

“Police, FC and Rangers will be deployed to ensure the security of the Red Zone,” it said and added that search operations will be conducted in the city in view of the threats of terrorism.

The Islamabad police said that the personnel deployed had been equipped with modern technology and drones and body cameras had been provided to them.

The Islamabad police said that a meeting was held to review security arrangements regarding the expected political party meeting in the area adjacent to Islamabad which was presided over by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan.

“IG Islamabad has said that all possible measures will be taken to ensure the safety of the lives and property of the citizens of Islamabad.”

The statement came a day after Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan announced that his party would march on Rawalpindi on Saturday, November 26 to demand snap elections.
