Court moved against PTI’s plea for sit-in, rally in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The district administration has urged the Islamabad High Court to reject the PTI’s writ petition for a sit-in and rally in the federal capital in view of the law and order situation and threats to Imran Khan’s life.

“It is important to mention here that there has been such extremist incidents in Islamabad such the murder of Salman Taseer (Governor) and assassination of Shahbaz Bhatti (Ex-Federal Minister) by the religious fanatics,” said the petition filed on Saturday.

The administration expressed its concerns by quoting the confession of the prime suspect in the assassination attempt on Imran’s life in its petition.

Imran got injured when a man standing near his container in Wazirabad shot at him during the long march on Thursday. The incident left one man dead and several others injured.

“There is likely chance of such religious fanatics entering into the rally and may create such like incidents in Islamabad.”

The district administration claimed that the sitting minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and party supporters openly announced to come to Islamabad with arms/weapons and other materials for use against law enforcement agencies.

This comes days after the IHC’s decision to reserve the decision on PTI’s plea to issue NOC and permission for staging a sit-in in Islamabad. The former ruling party has moved the court against the administration’s decision to not allow permission for a rally at the Srinagar Highway.
