A day earlier, the Par­liamentary Committee on Judges’ Appointment ratified the recommendations of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) for the confirmation of the 11 additional judges.

The JCP is a constitutional forum which recommends names of jurists to be appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court. The commission comprises nine members, i.e. the chief justice of Pakistan, the four senior-most judges of the Supreme Court, the federal law minister, the attorney general of Pakistan, a retired judge of the Supreme Court and a nominee of the Pakistan Bar Council.

On October 12, the judicial commission recommended the confirmation of 11 of the 13 additional judges of the LHC.
