No truth to reports of govt talks offer: Fawad

PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry has described reports pertaining to talks offer by the government as “frivolous” as his party resumes the long march to Islamabad from Shahdara today (Saturday).

“On one hand, the PTI workers are being arrested and the ban has been imposed on live coverage of ‘Haqeeqi Azadi March’ and on the other hand reports pertaining to the formation of a frivolous committee is only meant to engage the Azadi March,” he said in a tweet.

The tweet was in response to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s decision to form a nine-member cabinet committee for talks with the PTI. Moreover, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah during a Twitter Space session said on Friday that the government could start talks with the PTI if the latter keeps the “attitude of a politician”. But, he reiterated that polls would only be held after the completion of the tenure of the incumbent National Assembly.

Fawad demanded of the government to announce the date of the elections rather than “playing such tricks”.

Earlier in the day, he questioned the decision to ban TV channels from the live coverage of PTI’s long march.

He claimed that that the middle class of Pakistan has come out to change the “stereotypical system”. The second day of Azadi March would start from Shahdara and end at Kamonki, he added.
