&lt;p&gt;The army chief met journalists after addressing the National Security workshop. He told the gathered journalists that he would not seek another extension - an issue that has dominated the airwaves for the last several months. “I will retire in five weeks.”&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;He also said that it was the last time he was addressing the National Security workshop.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The COAS had said on several previous occasions that he would retire at the end of his tenure and would not seek another extension.&lt;/p&gt;
