Guterres, who earlier launched a massive aid appeal for Pakistan saying that the country suffered a loss of $30 billion and counting, issued the new warning in a tweet.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and others have said that after flood a second disaster was in the making in Pakistan as flood survivors faced water borne diseases.

Guterres, in his tweet, said that “while the rains may have ceased, the effects of the floods will linger for years to come.”

“I urge donors & relevant organizations to support rehabilitation & reconstruction efforts,” the UN Secretary General said.

“Pakistan is on the verge of a public health disaster and severe hunger is spiking,” he said.
