In the evening, Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah held talks with the protesters and told them that he will convey their demands to the prime minister.

Farmers, however, said that they will continue their protest until their demands are met.

Earlier in the day, Islamabad police said the protesters were bent on marching into the D-Chowk.

The police also warned that they would take action against anyone damaging public and private property.

In a statement, police confirmed that the road closure has affected the flow of traffic in the federal capital.

There were scenes of traffic gridlocks in the morning as the road leading from Zero Point to Faisal Avenue was closed.

Hundreds of farmers entered Islamabad on Wednesday, only days after they had broken up their protest in the city following government assurance of redressal.

Although the authorities had already sealed the D-Chowk, farmers Wednesday removed the shipping containers used for blocking roads and staged a sit-in on Jinnah Avenue.

On Thursday, they were still on the roads.

The protesters are calling for a ban on construction activities on agricultural lands, tax exemption for agricultural machinery, and the supply of good quality fertilizers.

They also want the government to increase the support price of wheat.

The government will likely hold negotiations with the protesters.

Meanwhile, PTI’s Fawad Chaudhry warned the government against the use of force.

He said that the PTI will jump in to defend the protesters if the government took any action against them.

Islamabad also saw a protest from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government employees.

They are staging a sit-in outside Imran Khan’s Bani Gala residence in Islamabad.
