      <title>Former ICC umpire Asad Rauf passes away at 66</title>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Asad Rauf, a former top umpire of the International Cricket Council (ICC), has passed away due to heart attack in Lahore. He was 66 years old.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;“Asad Rauf suffered a heart attack while returning home from his shop last night. It proved to be fatal,” his brother Tariq Rauf said.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The time and location of his funeral prayer will be announced later.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Asad Rauf was a leading umpire who started of as a first class cricketer in the 1980s.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;He started his umpiring career in 2000. In 2006, he was promoted to the Elite Panel of ICC. In the next 7 years, he became one of the most prominent umpires in Pakistan until his involvement in a match-fixing controversy while officiating in the Indian Premier League, which led to a five-year ban by the Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI).&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;He stood in a a total of 231 international matches over a period of 13 years.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The former umpire spent his last days selling clothes at a flea market.&lt;/p&gt;
