      <title>Over 56,000 cases of street crime reported in Karachi this year</title>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;KARACHI: At least sixty people were killed in over 56,000 reported cases of street crime that were reported in Karachi in the last eight months, according to official figures.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The real number is believed to be higher as a lot of people are reluctant to report such crimes.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The data from January till now says that another 270 sustained injuries as they were targeted by street criminals.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;During the same time, 104 vehicles and 35,000 motorcycles were snatched at gunpoint, while another 1,383 vehicles were stolen from various parts of the city.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This increase has created panic and fear among the residents, with city administrator Murtaza Wahab instructing the police to improve the performance.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The police has added another unit, the Shaheen Force, to curb the rising incidence of street crime in the city.&lt;/p&gt;
