The girl, believed to be a minor, along with her lawyer appeared before the Islamabad High Court on Monday and submitted a statement on oath.

The court granted her protective bail against a surety bond of Rs25,000.

Illegal weapons

Meanwhile, the weapons found the house of Shaikh Danish turned out to be illegal, on which the police registered three more cases of illegal weapons against Shaikh Danish’s security guards.

The four accused Tayyab, Asghar, Faizan and Shoaib, who were arrested in the case of kidnapping and torture of a medical student, along with her brother, were produced again in a Faisalabad court after completion of the three-day physical remand. The court handed them over to the police on physical remand for two more days.

Earlier, police had filed a petition seeking an extension in the physical remand of the culprits to recover the mobile phone, jewellery and cash.

Meanwhile, the police have decided to request the victim’s statement be recorded via video link to avoid any untoward incident.

Sheikh Danish was attacked by lawyers and people at his previous court appearance and police say there is a possibility that another such episode might take place at the next hearing on August 23.

Therefore, the police have recommended a jail trial in the case to avoid any unusual incident.

Background

Last week, an influential businessman along with at least five other men allegedly abducted, tortured and sexually assaulted a medical student in Faisalabad.

On Thursday, Danish was presented before the local magistrate, where the police sought five-day physical remand of Danish.

The court handed over the prime suspect – Sheikh Danish – to police on physical remand until August 23.
