      <title>PPP’s Tahir Mashhadi passes away</title>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;PPP leader and Senator Tahir Mashhadi has passed away of heart failure in Karachi.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;His funeral prayers will be offered at 2 pm today at the Imambargah in Malir Cantt. Tahir Mashhadi was associated with the MQM till 2018 before he joined the PPP.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Col (R) Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi was born in Jahania, Punjab and hailed from a well known political and literary family. He was educated in England from 1950 to 1962. He joined the army in 1968 and graduated from Command and Staff College in 1978. He left the army in 1992.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Senator Mashhadi was a freelance columnist and political analyst who regularly wrote for &lt;em&gt;The Nation&lt;/em&gt;, &lt;em&gt;Dawn&lt;/em&gt;, &lt;em&gt;Pakistan Observer&lt;/em&gt;, and &lt;em&gt;The Frontier Post&lt;/em&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;He was active at the local government level, going on to be elected Vice Chairman for District East Karachi in the 1994-96 period. He was elected nazim of Jamshed Town in 2005.&lt;/p&gt;
