The area where the incident occurred, Akka Khel, is far-flung, and it could not be covered during the dates designated for the polio drive in the adjoining areas. Today’s polio drop drive was initiated just so these areas could be covered.

Unknown men opened fire at the policemen accompanying the team. The three policemen are in stable condition and the polio team remains unharmed. No group has taken the responsibility for the attack yet.
