Based on PTI work FATF declared action plan as completed: Imran Khan

Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairperson Imran Khan Friday said that his government faced the dire prospect of ‘blacklisting’, claiming that the PTI-led government saved Pakistan from being blacklisted by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

Imran Khan, in a series of tweets, said that the country had to complete the most challenging action plan “ever given to any jurisdiction.”

“I constituted a FTAF Coordination Committee headed by key minister Hammad Azhar,” the PTI chairman said.

He lauded Hammad for his efforts in completing the action plan.

“FATF repeatedly praised work & the political will my govt demonstrated. We not only averted blacklisting but also completed 32 out of 34 action items,” he said.

Earlier, the FATF expressed satisfaction with Pakistan’s performance saying that the country has substantially completed its two action plans and would be removed from the grey list after it passes the on-site visit.

The anti-money laundering watchdog reviewed Pakistan’s progress on FATF Action Plans in its plenary meetings held in Berlin from Monday till Friday and has acknowledged the completion of Pakistan’s both Action Plans (2018 and 2021)
