The committee includes Senator Sherry Rehman, Farhatullah Babar and Qamar uz Zaman Kaira.

Bilawal said in a tweet that the committee has been set up to liaise with political parties and raise the issue of terrorism in Parliament.

The decision to form the committee was taken at Zardari House in Islamabad on Saturday. He added that they will be reaching out to allied parties to create consensus on the way forward.

The meeting was attended by senior party members, Yousaf Raza Gillani, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Murad Ali Shah, Sherry Rehman, Khursheed Shah, Faryal Talpur, Nayyer Bukhari, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Chaudhry Manzoor, Nadeem Afzal Chan, Akhunzada Chattan, Nisar Khuhro and others.

The TTP had declared an extended ceasefire with Pakistan last month after the government reportedly accepted the TTP’s demand to take back command of Malakand Division from the army and hand it to the Frontier Corps.

However, the demand for a roll back to the merger of the erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was deemed ‘unworkable’ by the Pakistani side.

The ceasefire brings an end to nearly two decades of militancy.
